Raewyn and Ray purchased Utopia in 2003 as a bare land block with a mix of pasture and regenerating bush. Raewyn has a huge passion for the land and a clear plan of what she wants. Utopia is farmed in a very self-sufficient and sustainable way with stock income paying for rates, insurance and fertiliser. Animals on the property are in great condition and very well managed. Bird life has greatly increased, with nesting bellbirds, tuis, morepork, grey herons and quail. Utopia has a robust spray programme to keep pest plants under control and the planting of willows and poplars has increased aesthetics and erosion control.
