The New Zealand Farm Environment Awards Trust (NZFEA) has welcomed WaterForce Ltd to the sponsorship family behind the Ballance Farm Environment Awards.

WaterForce managing director Ron McFetridge says the company has always supported the concept of the Ballance Farm Environment Awards.

“The awards are all about encouraging the sustainable management of resources,” he says.

“Sponsoring the awards is a good fit for WaterForce because our company focuses on helping farmers to efficiently manage their resources.”

Established in 2002, WaterForce is a New Zealand-owned company that supplies, installs and services water management and irrigation products, water treatment equipment, effluent systems and monitoring devices.

NZFEA chairman Jim Cotman says WaterForce’s sponsorship is an exciting development for the awards because the efficient management of water and farm effluent are key challenges facing farmers.

“WaterForce’s association with the awards will provide us with a very high level of expertise in the judging process and in the ongoing development of the awards.”

Mr Cotman says NZFEA is proud to welcome WaterForce to a sponsorship family that includes some of New Zealand’s leading agricultural companies.

“It’s encouraging that these agribusinesses recognise the value of working together to promote the sustainability ethos their farmer clients live by,” he says.

“Greater collaboration within the agriculture sector can only be good for NZ Incorporated. It’s a win-win situation because it also adds value to individual marketing initiatives.”

WaterForce joins a strong line-up of sponsors that includes Ballance Agri-nutrients, LIC, PGG Wrightson, Hill Laboratories, Massey University and Beef + Lamb New Zealand. NZFEA also has strategic partnerships with a number of industry organisations, including Federated Farmers, Fonterra, DairyNZ, QEII National Trust and MAF.

The awards are also backed by Waikato Regional Council, Environment Bay of Plenty, Greater Wellington Regional Council, Horizons Regional Council, Environment Canterbury, Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, Gisborne District Council, Otago Regional Council and the Northland Regional Council.

Ron McFetridge says WaterForce sources and manufactures world-leading water management and effluent disposal technology, tailoring systems to suit the specific needs of customers and “adding value to their farming businesses”.

The company has 11 branches throughout New Zealand.
“Each region has its own set of challenges, with different soils, climate and farming types. But we can draw on expertise and experience to design a future-proof system that will suit the conditions faced by each individual client.”
