Farm Tour
The farm tour will be in 4WD vehicles. Please fill a vehicle with as many people as you can. Please ensure all vehicles and footwear are clean.
Topics covered include:
- The Cousins family business – history of the farm, how they structure and successfully run the farming operations and how they make important business decisions.
- The ‘Engine Room’ of Hiamoe Farm – how stock classes and land use have changed over time, and the role of diversification. See the QEII block and a great view of the farm. Also hear from Guest Speaker Martin Walsh, who has challenged Hiamoe Farm’s thinking over the years.
- Integration of trees – have a look at plantings of manuka, pines and long-standing poplar trials. Forest360 will cover your questions on the ETS and how they advise Hiamoe Farm around best management of forestry harvest and replanting. Horizons will also be presenting on their involvement with Hiamoe Farm.
- To finish up we will discuss the financial sustainability of Hiamoe Farm, and what’s next for the Cousins family.
All welcome, please join us!
